Lei Day

It’s May so that means it’s time to make leis! Come and learn how to create one. Supplies provided, but we also will be accepting donations of flowers and ti leaves. Program is suitable for ages 6 and over. All children must be accompanied by a parent or an adult caregiver. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required. Program schedules are subject to change. Events will not be held on State holidays.

Family Literacy Night

Join RTMI (Read To Me International) & the Waimea Public Library for read-alouds, a light meal, and a kid-friendly craft! Families who register on the RTMI & Waimea (Kauaʻi) Public Library Family Literacy Night Registration Page will receive a free new picture book to take home with a reading resource packet. This monthly program (3rd Mondays) is especially for families with children 4-8 years old, and younger/older siblings are welcome to join. Our May program features these two books: When the Cassowary Pooped by Tamara Montgomery and Jodi Parry Belknap, illustrated by Joseph D. Dodd Hooray for Birds! by Lucy Cousins. We will also feature a special guest, Dr. Arnie Serota, who will share how to respond if a young child has an emergency such as choking.
