Move to high ground
At least 100 feet above sea level or 2 miles inland, immediately.
Step 2
Don’t wait for a warning
If you feel strong shaking near the coast, evacuate right away.
Step 3
Move inland
If high ground isn’t possible, go as far from the coast as you can.
Step 4
Listen for sirens
A steady tone means imminent threat. Tune to local radio or TV.
Step 5
Stay out of the zone
Don’t return until officials give the all-clear.
